II. Current Events
A. Disco Dash Run (Megan and Mat) – Happening Thursday. As of yesterday
almost halfway to funds goal of $6,000. Biggest kid led fundraiser during
the year. We are at $3,635.00 now. Volunteer slots filled. Setup tomorrow
after school. Disco ball and black light. Kids can wear light colors if they
want.
B. All School Tie-Dye (Elisa) – Schedule below of when each class will tie-
dye. Showed an example with and without water to see how colors show
up. Once dry, they go in dryer to dry/cure all the way. Amanda will send
out on Parent Square reminder to families to let them know what the
schedule is if kids want to wear certain clothes to do activity. As we get
going may see about adding another color. Could let dry then decide if
need to add more color. Need to hang them to dry or lay them out in
Room 11. We have a clothing rack but not enough space for all 180 shirts.
If weather is nice, will lay out on tarp then transport to Room 11 to finish
drying. Teachers are running volunteer list. Teachers need to put out
memo and get volunteers. Some classes going at once so parents can
help with any and all. Gloves will be provided.

C. Book Fair (Jill and Elisa) – next week, Mon-Thurs. Setup Thursday night so
classes can come look Friday and purchase online. Fair will be setup but
nobody here from PTO on Friday. Teachers can do wishlist on Friday. Will
have wishlist board in Library with everyone’s list. Also have an e-card to
scan and give money to the teacher’s e-wallet account so they can pick
their own books. Volunteer request list went out.
D. Pumpkin Patch (Mrs. Wolfington) – hoping by Monday will have list of kids
and volunteers. Mr. Allen to go purchase tickets. 5 buses, haven’t been
assigned yet. By this Friday, parents should be notified if they are going.
II. Upcoming Events
A. Carnival (Deb) – November 14th from 2pm-5pm. Changed it to earlier in
the day this year (2pm-5pm). Franko’s hotdogs coming, reaching out to
Ochoa as well. Maze not happening this year, doing mad scientist theme
room instead. Maybe a fundraiser as well, still thinking about ideas. Money
could go directly back to Dilley. Right now it is not a fundraiser, it is a
wash. Would teachers want to help out with experiments? Will have better
idea of activities once we get a little closer. Welcome any ideas for things
to do. Will post volunteer needs in the next week.
B. Dine Out with Dilley (Allie Busby, not here) – Nov. 4 Chipotle, 4-8pm. Can
order online and use code. More information coming.
III. New Business
A. Girls who Code – We qualify for program as after school program. PTO
providing 3 rd and 4 th grade students snacks. Mr. Allen provides buses. We
need to vote in stipend for certified assistant who is running it. We came
out to $640.00 and would take out of STEM room line item in budget. Will
vote at the November meeting. Mr. Allen hoping to start in October. For
now, Elisa has volunteered to do class until those funds have been voted
on. Girls Who Code was started by a mom and her kids. Get kids coding,
teach them science. Youngest they do is 3 rd -6 th grade. Goal is if we already
have transportation, we could offer program for Lego or Robotics program
for younger grades. Stacey (PTO recommendation for person to teach the
class) is trained for this class and curriculum. The program provides
curriculum, very easy to follow and teach. If we have more kids, we can
offer to more kids, hoping to get more kids to Dilley. Program is 3:15pm-
4:30pm. Even have set break times during the class. Strictly girls. Hoping
to get other programs going as well. This is a pilot program to see how it
goes. Elisa meeting with person who has a Minecraft program and see if
we qualify for that as well. We have five girls signed up so far. We won’t
max out class (not saying no to anyone). Mr. Allen brought this idea to
PTO. Have flyer we can send out and will post on socials too. Next
meeting we will vote to approve it.
1. PTO will provide snacks
2. Bus transportation for students
3. Need to Vote – use stem line item to offer a stipend
a) 8 week program $640
b) Vote on November general meeting
B. Book Vending Machine question from teachers – Allie is working on it.
BookWorms provides a vending machine with 210 books. To purchase
outright it is about $10,000. Allie applying for grants for that. Still on PTO
radar. Idea is that every child gets coin on first day of class and they get to
pick a book. Or right before winter break. Or congrats on something, go
get a book. Everyone gets books each time.
Meeting adjourned at 4:04pm
